St.Mary’s Higher Secondary School, A.N.Mangalam ,Salem

MONTFORT BROTHERS OF ST.GABRIEL seek God’s experience for themselves and for the people of God through their apostolate of love. The Educational apostolate is a ministry for which they have been called sent forth after the special charism of ST.LOUIS GRIGNION DE MONTFORT following the Gospel values. The main aim of the Montfort Brothers in promoting education is to give an holistic education to the students.

Our school is located in Salem district, TamilNadu state. When we roll back into the history of our school, we could read that on 19.06.1962 it had it humble beginning with primary in his hand. REV. FR. MOVIEL has put in his heart and soul in bringing up this and giving it a respectable shape by putting up a new school building.

A remarkable change was brought to this institution at its younger age paving way for a better future. On 10th June 1966 REV.FR.JOSEPH took charge as principal.

On 7th June 1979 the Bishop of Salem, late. REV.DR.MICHAEL BOSCO DURAISAMY invited the Montfort Brothers of St.Gabriel to manage the School. When the brothers took over the school from the diocese Provincial REV. BRO. ANSLEM appointed REV.BRO.M.P.JOHN as the new principal of St.Mary’s High School.

Today the St. Mary’s students are in a higher position in the society and they are blooming in their life in various parts of the world. All the laurels and pride of St.Mary’s goes to these Brothers. Who have really sacrificed their life for the development of our institution, we thank you brothers.

Infrastructure:

To add a feather in the crown of glory, we are very much honored to proclaim that we have a beautiful auditorium. To add the special effect in information and technology, we have computer laboratory containing 40 computers. A separate audiovisual room is also available for the students to learn their lessons effectively. The campus is proud of its fully equipped laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology and computer science and they are well utilized by the students of lower level to higher level.

Here come some of the important events in the history of our school.

On 9th June 1995, the school had an idea to give birth to a newborn child (i.e) higher secondary section in the form of laying a foundation stone. The new higher secondary school building was inaugurated and blessed by our late. Bishop Rev.Dr.Michael Bosco Duraisamy on 27th May 1996. To promote education and to motivate the kids in and around our place, the management started a primary section and also a parallel section in the state board in the year 1999. In the academic we have scored 100% result in the higher secondary examination in the year 1997-98 and 1998-99. One of our students named Brinda secured state first in higher secondary examination in the year 2001.

Science plays an important role in building up a nation. In the year 2001, four of our students participated in the National Children’s Science congress held at kolkatta and submitted a project and they were awarded as junior scientists.

Celebrations refresh us, religious feast and festivals like Christmas, and Pongal were commemorated in a grand scale. The teacher’s day and Children’s day are also celebrated in a grand manner in our school every year.

To provide a break in the monotony and add variety to their life experience and to give an exposure to the world outside, the teachers were taken for picnics to various places.

Achievements in sports:

Our super senior and senior girls football team holds a record of winning the State level matches for the past six years. From the year 2005-2011 St.Mary’s have produced more than 66 national players in Sports and games. And among them S.Pushpa, P.Thamaraiselvi, M.Usharani and R.Nandhini have participated in the Indian Camp.

As adding a feather to the cap, this year our whole under 16 girls football team was selected for Nationals at Bhopal.

To develop sports and games among girls, a new volleyball team was framed in our school and this team showed a lot of talent and potential and they won the senior state level volleyball tournament for the past two years making a history in St.Mary’s

Not only in Sport and games, our St.Mary’s children are far better in their co-curricular activities. During the years 2008, 2009, 2010 our students participated and brought laurels to our school by winning various cultural competitions in district level

Students and Social Service:

Students of today are the leaders of tomorrow. The present day younger generation should be ready to shoulder the burden of leadership. The movements, which are doing their services to the society in our school, are NCC, NSS, JRC, Scout, NGC, Eco club. This social service would do them and the society a lot of good.

No goal is too distant if you are ready to sweat and toil. No climb is too steep if your steps are determined. Yes
